<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Fadna Tea, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. The main objective of signing this MOU was to provide mutual economic and social benefits to the local communities through mutual participation between the private sector and the public sector. The MOU provides an opportunity for the university to commercialize their research inventions and market them partnering with Fadna.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Dr.P.G.C.S.Bowatte, the acting vice chancellor of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka and Mr.Chamendra Somatunga, Managing Director of Fadna were present at the event together with the university staff and representatives of Fadna.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Chamendra Somatunga stated that, “the constant efforts made by Fadna to develop the market in partnership with local universities are a timely and an effective step. Plans are underway to implement a number of such projects in collaboration with various state universities in Sri Lanka, which will make a significant contribution to the economy. As a responsible corporate citizen, we believe in making a change in the lives of our communities while empowering them to face all challenges they encounter.”</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Both parties wishes to encourage direct contact between their institutions and research centres, subject to the terms of this MoU. Initiatives will be carried out in the near future to develop collaborations in the areas of teaching and research, while implementing programs, exchanging research information in areas of mutual interest, engaging in joint research activities and sharing library and laboratory facilities offering greater avenues for both parties.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Fadna, the reputed functional tea manufacturing company introducing the nature’s goodness to the world, also conducts a number of CSR programs aimed at the local communities for their social development as well. <p class="wp-block-paragraph">Fadna Tea (Pvt.) Ltd., a pioneer in the Sri Lankan herbal tea industry, is making waves with the launch of their new product, “Diabe Tea-Sabaragamuwa”. Fadna introduced the concept of sharing the natural goodness of conventional beverages with the world and now brings its own functional herbal tea products by preserving their natural goodness, while conforming to international standards.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This anti-diabetic product uses 100% natural ingredients to maximize its benefits to diabetic patients. Understanding the challenges faced by diabetic patients in society, Fadna Tea was motivated to develop a product that would somewhat alleviate the struggles of these patients. Developed in collaboration with the Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development Operation (AHEAD) Grant RIC STEM HEMS 18 of the Faculty of Applied Science at the Sabaragamuwa University, this product was specifically designed for diabetics.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Fadna Tea Managing Director Mr. Chamendra Somatunga said: “Over 1.4 million adults in Sri Lanka are diabetic. As one of the trailblazing organizations within the herbal tea industry of Sri Lanka, we felt it was essential to ensure that our products cater to all people of Sri Lanka in some way or form. As we are gradually overcoming the challenges of the pandemic, we hope to improve the lifestyles of our customers as much as possible. We also hope to commercialize a range of functional teas, similar to Diabe Tea- Sabaragamuwa. We are extremely grateful to the AHEAD Grant for their collaboration, research, and assistance in making this product a reality.”</p>

This distinguished event aimed to promote and empower indigenous medicine by<br>recognizing the exemplary contributions and achievements of registered Ayurveda<br>practitioners across the island.<br>The primary objective of the ceremony was to ensure that our local practitioners<br>receive national recognition for their dedication and expertise in the field of Ayurveda,<br>thus elevating the status of traditional medicine in our country. The event witnessed<br>the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka,<br>Dinesh Gunawardhna, the Honorable Speaker, Mahinda Yapa, Sisira Jayakodi, the<br>Minister of State for Indigenous Medicine of Sri Lanka, Health Minister Keheliya<br>Rambukwella, and Nimal Siripala, the Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Aviation of Sri<br>Lanka.
